The picturesque village like front to this restaurant drew me in but the variety of menu items was what made me walk through the door. The food was absolutely delicious. And the waiter was super friendly and gave fast service. The ambience was inviting and warm. They had the game on tvs around but not too loud either. Very great place. Looking forward to going back.

Really love coming here to eat with the family! Food is delicious, portions are large and the service and prices are great! Always enough to bring home too. Traditional American pub fare, great sides, great salads, love the apps, great French onion soup, wings done really well, delicious crab cakes, fried chicken sandwich, wife had a really great burger here too, all the fried foods taste good (no stale oil), soda lines taste clean, good fountain drinks. Wife enjoyed her wine selection, the liquor menu is half the menu. Great bar area and downstairs dining room both brightly lit with stage areas (could us a lighting designer or at least some dimmers and maybe table lights, kind of feels a bit like a German hoffbrau but in a good way). Excited to see how the menu evolves through the year, really nice to have this as one of the local spots that make New Brunswick feel like a cozy little city.

The food was good. Looks like an old tavern but is more like a sports bar with the half dozen tvs tuned to Rutgers football and basketball. Service was a little slow but I think there only one server who was very personable. Good was good, Not amazing but over all I would go again if I wanted a drink and to watch a game.

Best French onion soup I've had in forever, service was great I'd recommend it for everyone

I stopped by for lunch before a show at the State Theater and it was great! We enjoyed the crab cake and burger with their variety of beers on tap. The fries were deliciously crispy and tender inside. The service was quick but the only thing I didn't like was that the place was quite dark inside. We had a reservation but it was pretty empty during lunch on a weekend. !

Tavern on George is my most visited restaurant in New Brunswick. I love the atmosphere, especially outside in the summer. I've always gone when there has been music playing, and it's typically good enough, but it can get loud inside depending on where you're seated. I love this place to please everyone, but the fish and Korean BBQ tacos kept bringing me back. They also make amazing fries for a great side. Overall, I think this is a great place for food and drinks especially if you enjoy live music.

Tavern on the George is a convenient spot to have dinner prior to a show at the State Theater. Make sure you have reservations, especially on theater nights, because it was definitely a popular spot due to their proximity to the theater. The menu is basic bar-gastro-pub type fare. We were a group of 6 who ordered everything from the burgers, to the chicken sandwiches and fish and chips. I ordered a chicken Caprese sandwich and I enjoyed it. The burgers were good too. The items all had the option of fries or salad. All the food was good, except my friend who ordered the fish and chips found it to be all batter and very little fish. The old school ambiance is really nice. The restaurant has an upstairs and downstairs dining area, each with its own bar. If in the area for a show, Tavern on the George has it down to a science getting all the groups in and out in time. Although, the food is nothing special, I'd come here again.

We went on a cold Sunday afternoon. Parking a slight challenge but we found a meter around the corner. We entered through an old unique wooden door and walked up a slope to the bar area. The place has high wooden ceilings and an area downstairs with another bar that opens during events and busier days. We sat at the main bar upstairs and ordered drinks. They have a dozen and a half beers on tap. We ordered loaded waffle fries which were topped with chicken, bbq sauce and scallions. They were good! After my beer I ordered a "gold fashioned" but I substituted bourbon instead of scotch. Service was friendly and efficient at the bar!
